Activities
Swimming/Boating - Next to the deck there are stairs down the bank to a rocky shore. There is also a stone beach 300 yards down a path with a dock, rowboat and canoe available for use. Feel free to bring kayaks etc. There is a state launching ramp about 5 miles away if someone was interested in trailering a boat.
Tennis - There is a tennis court shared with other family members that is located about an 8 minute walk from the cabin.
Fishing - Great lake for black bass, northern pike, perch etc.
Hiking - The Adirondacks are about an hour south on I-87. Mountain climbing, rock climbing for all levels.
Biking - Some of the best biking for all levels. There is a state park about 6 miles down the lake shore road that has bike paths as well as a sandy beach. For the long distant riders there is a beautiful 56 mile ride from the cabin through the Vermont islands that includes a bridge over the lake at the Canadian border and a ferry ride from Grand Isle to Plattsburgh. Burlington is about 70 miles round trip. Also great rides on country roads all the way to and in Canada.
Golf - Rouses Point and Plattsburgh
Canada - Montreal is an hours drive. Great for dinner, music, biking whatever.
Movies/Mall - Plattsburgh (12 miles)
Sunnywood
Monty's Bay, Lake Champlain
This 5 acre waterfront property is part of a family compound bought by our great-grandfather in 1910. The property's two cabins were built in the early 1950's and have been well kept over the years. The deck has an 180 degree view of Monty's bay and Lake Champlain.
The main cabin has a living room/kitchen divided by a counter with stools. The kitchen has basic appliances and kitchen ware: electric range, refrig, toaster, toaster oven, coffee maker and dishwasher. The living room has a stone fireplace and a picture window looking out at the lake. Next to it are 2 bedrooms - one with a queen bed and the other with 2 twins. There is a full bath (shower stall) between the two. All rooms can be accessed either from the back porch or through the interior.
Just steps away from the main cabin is a guest cabin with a small front porch, 3 additional bedrooms and a full bath. The end bedroom has a queen bed and access to the bathroom. The middle room has two twins and the third bedroom has a double bed. These 2 rooms access the bathroom from the porch. There is also an attached laundry room with washer and dryer.
We have a policy of not renting to more than 6 guests at a time due to the fragility of the septic system.
